What can be verified
The post sat in the "single-post" section of the 2018 campaign site, which places it in the governor's race. Its title suggests a field or grassroots announcement, a phrase that would also fit Hill's Army background. Beyond that, we found no news report, filing or archived copy we could rely on that describes what was announced or when. We are not going to guess.
What the record shows about his field campaign
- In July 2017 Hill won the Cobb County GOP's Fourth of July straw poll with 40 percent of 255 activists, ahead of Brian Kemp (33 percent) and Casey Cagle (15 percent) (AJC).
- In late April and May 2018 he campaigned across the state by bus. WTVM covered a Columbus stop on May 4, and FetchYourNews covered a breakfast meet-and-greet in Ellijay that week (bus tour note).
- In the May 22 primary he finished third statewide with 18.3 percent. The AJC reported he ran second in Cobb and Fulton counties, ahead of Kemp, and narrowly carried Glynn County.
