What was released
The AJC reported on March 12, 2018 that the ad opens with Hill walking onto a football field, a reference to his years as quarterback at The Westminster School and West Point. He ties the game to his Army service and ends on a line aimed at "career politicians." The paper did not report the size of the buy.
The race at that point
The AJC described a growing "air war": Cagle, the front-runner in public and private polls, had reserved more than $4.4 million in airtime for the final six weeks before the primary, and Kemp and Clay Tippins were also on the air. Hill was competing with Kemp, Tippins and state Sen. Michael Williams for a likely runoff spot against Cagle.
How it turned out
Kemp took the second runoff spot. Hill finished third on May 22 with 18.3 percent. See the elections page.
